New Ambassador


H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar

Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar is Malaysia’s 12th Ambassador to the Russian Federation. Arrived at post on 12 October 2010, Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar is an experience career diplomat and has served the Foreign Ministry in various assignments abroad such as in Pakistan, United States, Belgium and Cuba in his 28 years in service.

Prior to his assignment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Russian Federation, Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar assumed the post of the Ambassador of Malaysia in Cuba from 2005-2008 and later held the post of Director General for the Southeast Asia Region Center after completing his tour of duty in Cuba. In 2009, Dato’ Zainol held the post of Deputy Secretary General II for Multilateral Affairs Department at the Ministry.

As the Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Dato’ Zainol Abidin is also concurrently accredited to the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Belarus.
